St. Lazarus or San Lazaro is the miraculous leper who was returned to life by Jesus Christ, four days after his death.

Also worshiped in the Santeria religion as an avatar of the African orisha/god Babalu-Aye, his image is often worn by Santeria practitioners as a protective force against disease and illness, and to promote healing.
